The Heart of Everyday Peacemaking in the Global Context

Working across cultures brings rich opportunities—but also unique challenges, especially when it comes to handling conflict. Cultural differences can shape how people perceive, respond to, and resolve tensions. This training has been designed with global cross-cultural workers front of mind but is readily applicable to anyone working in cross-cultural ministry whether in the local church or abroad.

Our presenters

Wayne Forward

Wayne Forward is the CEO of PeaceWise, a speaker and trainer who helps people become peacemakers for life. His own journey into peacemaking began with a desire to grow as a leader. What he learned helped transform a personal relationship and deepened his conviction that peacemaking is part of how we live and share the gospel.

Wayne helps people see conflict as an opportunity for discipleship: a place to step out in faith, practise grace and trust Jesus when relationships are hard. Drawing on his experience as a Baptist pastor, in global missions and in mental health nursing, he brings a pastoral and practical approach to training. He has spoken and delivered training across Australia and internationally, helping leaders, teams, churches, schools and organisations respond to conflict in healthy ways.

Wayne is married to Amy. They have three children, and he enjoys triathlons, good food and time with people.

Phillip Marshall

Dr Phillip Marshall is an intercultural leadership mentor with four decades of experience in global missions. Now based in Newcastle, Australia, he has also lived in Japan, New Zealand, Peru, Malawi and Singapore. As a professional pastoral supervisor, mentor and seminary professor, his ministry centres on leadership development, especially among younger leaders. His experience in cross-cultural ministry has shown the importance of biblical peace-making, particularly in diverse teams. A favourite verse is Ps 29:11: “The Lord blesses his people with peace.” To relax, he enjoys walking around Newcastle foreshore with Diane and long distance running.
