Rooted in Christ, growing as a peacemaker
Have you ever found yourself in a difficult conversation or tense relationship, trying your hardest to bring peace – but feeling like nothing you do makes a difference? It can be exhausting when our best efforts fall short, and we begin to wonder if peacemaking is even possible. The good news is that we don’t have to rely on our own strength. True peacemaking starts with being rooted in Christ.
“…just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
Colossians 2:6–7 (NLT)
Paul reminds us to stay connected to Jesus, allowing him to build us up and strengthen our faith. When tensions rise or relationships feel strained, it’s tempting to lean on our own efforts. But when we rely on ourselves, we often fall short – reacting in frustration, fear, or impatience instead of responding with the wisdom and gentleness Christ gives. As Paul writes in Philippians 4:13, we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Our role isn’t to force peace – it’s to remain faithful and let his Spirit guide our words and actions.
As you seek to live as a peacemaker today, focus on your relationship with Christ, the Prince of Peace. The more rooted you are in him, the more naturally peace will flow through you.
